We visited Poland in July and made a special trip to Szubin, the city/town in Poland where the Germans had a prisoner of war camp. It was Oflag 64, a POW camp for officers only. My father was with the 34th Division in North Africa and fought in Tunisia and was captured, marched to Poland and interned at this camp through the rest of the war.
I've created four pages on this topic at my MobileMe account:
CEH in World War II [Camp Claiborne, LA. training]
CEH in North Africa and POW camp [after shipped to N.Africa, going thru battle & then onto camp]
Life in the POW Camp in Szubin, Poland [activities created to pass the time]
and from our trip this year, pictures of Szubin in July 2009, the remaining camp buildings and a memorial to those who were there and others, from 1939 to 1945
